Enhanced Eddy Current & High Pressure Cylinder Filling Procedures 

The morning session will be spent learning eddy current testing techniques for the detection of sustained load cracking in 6351-T6 aluminum alloy cylinders.  The afternoon session focuses on filling carbon dioxide and breathing air cylinders.  Students can attend one or both training modules for a comprehensive training experience.  These classes are offered following the CTC Hazmat Seminar and prior to the Galiso Productivity Class.

Morning Session 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.:

Includes technical information regarding aluminum cylinder thread anomalies, thread inspection, regulation and compliance, eddy current instrument use and maintenance.

Afternoon Session 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: 

High Pressure Cylinder Filling Procedures

for Carbon Dioxide and Breathing Air Cylinder filling facilities

Includes technical information on filling carbon dioxide and breathing air cylinders, safe filling practices, CGA fill standards, cylinder inspection at fill and regulatory compliance. Covers the new guidelines for filling "beverage" grade carbon dioxide as well as the new filling limits that became effective February 2016.

9.  Training Records.   A record of current training must be maintained for each employee who performs eddy current and visual examination in accordance with 172.704(d).

Fill training requirement:

(2) Function-specific training.  (i) Each hazmat employee must be provided function-specific training concerning requirements of this subchapter, or exemptions or special permits issued under subchapter A of this chapter, that are specifically applicable to the functions the employee performs.
