Case Law & Insurance Contracts 

FREE Continuing Education Course for Insurance Professionals

This course takes us into the courtroom and shows the process judges and juries use to determine whether a complaint is legitimate, or whether to support an insurance company's denial of a claim. We discuss the importance of policy language, and definitions of key terms and phrases. We explain the Plain Meaning Rule and the Special Meaning Rule. We discuss the importance of "intent" and "perspective," as they play roles in the court's ultimate rulings. Case studies are provided to expound upon each point raised in the course.

About the Instructor:

Rick Weston has been the General Manager for Insurance Career Training, Inc. (ICT) since 2010. ICT is a leading national provider of insurance continuing education classes, with programs approved in nearly every state. He has been in the insurance industry since 1987. He spent 17 years with Farmers Insurance Group, the last nine years as a District Manager in eastern Indiana. He then spent six years as a District Sales Manager with Shelter Insurance before joining ICT. He has earned the following professional designations: CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, CPCU, FSS
and has taught several courses to assist others in earning their designations. Before beginning his insurance career, he received his BA from the University of California – Irvine.
