Supportive Housing Operators Network Workshop:

Behavioral Health Services

Many of you manage supportive housing at developments that include Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) units and services that are offered under an Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) model; however, some of you may be wondering what is MHSA?  What is ACT?  Well, you won’t want to miss this opportunity to find out more about the needs of your MHSA residents and how services are coordinated and delivered to your tenants.

Dr. Piedad Garcia, Deputy Director, and Cecily Thornton-Stearns, Assistant Medical Services Administrator, County of San Diego Behavioral Health Services, and an MHSA Property Manager will provide an overview of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) housing program and the services offered to their clients living in your housing. They will provide information on who the County’s service providers/FSPs are, the ACT model, communication protocols, 24/7 crisis intervention, and the role of an on-site resident services coordinator or wellness coordinator.  There will also be an opportunity for attendees to provide feedback on how the program is working at your development(s) including success stories and challenges.
