Are you new to Lucy Calkins Reading and Writing Workshop this year or maybe have not taught it in a few years? If yes, join us for a refresher/overview training to jump-start you into the workshop model. 

Participants will get an introduction to the materials in the kit, guidance in establishing structures and routines for successful implementation, and tips and tricks to ensure successful implementation. Additionally, participants will explore the mini-lesson structure, on-demand assessments, and writing pathways.

Training objectives
Participants will: 

  • Gain a greater understanding of the materials included in the kit
  • Understand the structures and routines necessary to implement the units of study with fidelity
  • Consider mini-lessons they will want to teach in order to launch a writing workshop
  • Understand the components of and the rational for the on-demand assessments

Who should attend?
Classroom teachers in grades K-8, reading teachers, reading specialists, literacy coaches and administrators.

Participants must bring: 
Lucy Calkins Reading or Writing Units of Study

Session is offered at no cost for Title I Districts or Independent Charter schools, but registration is required. Others may attend for $39. 
**If you are uncertain if your district is a CESA #1 Title I district or Independent Charter School, please confirm with Megan Glaeser prior to registering. Districts that are not CESA #1 Title I Districts or Independent Charter School will be billed in full regardless of fee option selected.
