April's Topic
Toby Merrill fought the law and Toby Merrill won. As director of the Harvard Law School Project on Predatory lending, Merrill prevented the distribution of over 100,000 cancellation of debt tax statements. She took objection when US Education Secretary Betsy DeVos an advocate of for-profit colleges put the skids on debt forgiveness to students of ITT, DeVry, Corinthian and a national cosmetology chain Marinello. US District Court Judge Randolph Moss found the administration to act unlawfully. Merrill comes to MaSEA sharing her story of success and will provide attendees with a solid understanding of student loan fraud and the resolution available to victims.
