Hello!

Our Go Fish conversation will give us the chance to:

• fish for ways that we can embody the church outside of normal venues;
• fish around for how God is calling people to explore their faith in non-traditional formats;
• cast our nets wide for ideas that gather people in alternative forms of Christian community;
• recognize how organized religion can make people feel like fish out of water.

The New Way Task Force encourages church members and congregations in our presbytery to identify possible alternative Christian communities to reach people who are not part of existing congregations – and might never be.  Our work is not designed to be an outreach program that attracts people to your church, but an authentic way of reaching people where they are, with opportunities to explore their faith and draw close to Christ through worship, study, service, or healing outside of traditional church venues and programs.  Our work is broader than the 1001 New Worshipping Communities program of the denomination, but includes it.

I hope you’ll take the bait and join us for dinner and conversation. We’re going to have a whale of a time!  (Yes, I know whales are mammals, but I couldn’t resist continuing the theme.)
