Overview

This event, given in partnership with Lehman College, is an exciting way to learn about the legal, accounting and insurance services you will need if you want to start or grow a new business.  

A panel of three experts from each field will each briefly present the resources you need in these subject areas:

Accounting:  Andy Presti, Presti and Nagele
Budgeting and cash flow projections, balance sheets

Andrew C. Presti founded Presti & Naegele (www.pntax.com) in 1982, where is now Senior Partner. P & N is an accounting and technology consulting firm that provides accounting, auditing, payroll and tax services to small and larger businesses.  The firm employs 35 full time accountants and has a varied client base in multiple industries. It is the largest QuickBooks consulting organization in New York City.

Andrew has been preparing tax returns for 35 years and is currently an IRS Enrolled Agent. He is a CEO of Metropolitan Archives, a company that services the real estate industry. He co-founded First Central Savings Bank where he serves on the Board of Directors and is a member of the Executive, Investment, Audit, Corporate Governance and IT Committees.  He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from St. John’s University.

Legal:  Lawrence Drath, Esq., Holm & Drath 
Contracts, Leases and Partnerships

Lawrence I. Drath is a graduate of NYU law school. He has been a practicing attorney with an emphasis in real estate, financing, structuring contracts and partnership, entity agreements, the development of business strategies. His client base includes restaurants operators, hotels and entrepreneurs.

He has taught basic legal principals to students at the NYU undergraduate division for the past 25 years. He has been an arbitrator with the American Arbitrator Association resolving disputes between contractual and partnership parties. Mr. Drash is a SCORE NYC Mentor.

Insurance:  Sean O’Rourke, Combs & Company
Types of coverage, determining the right type of coverage for your business, specialized cyber insurance

Sean O’Rourke is a Cyber Liability consultant for Combs & Company, an insurance brokerage and consultancy headquartered in NYC. He works with small and mid-sized businesses to mitigate financial risks posed to their technology and data by internal and external threats. 

Sean has 20 years of IT experience, including 12 years spent running the technology firm he cofounded, so he has a unique perspective on cyber liability and the potential disruptions faced by businesses. Sean serves as a mentor to a number of students from his alma mater, Washington & Lee University, and is part of Baruch College's Executives on Campus program.

An interactive panel discussion, including Q&A, will follow, enabling you to ask specific questions about your business or the business you want to start.

Resources you take with you will include a practical checklist of insurance coverage options.
