This year, Christchurch CPAG & Villa Maria Girls College will jointly host a Post-Budget Breakfast and provide a child-focused analysis and commentary of the year's budget. The aim is to provide an accessible and affordable avenue for the community to come together and hear about how the budget affects children and young people.

Speakers:

Mike O'Brien

Mike is an Associate Professor at the School of Counselling, Human Services and Social Work at the University of Auckland and has previously been CPAG’s Convenor.  He has written extensively on poverty and social security issues.  Mike chaired the Alternative Welfare Working Group in 2011. He has also held board positions at Te Waipuna Puawai and the Auckland City Mission in addition to being a member of the Impacts of Poverty and Exclusion Policy Group for the New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services. CPAG spokesperson on welfare and social security issues.

Helen Leahy

Helen is the Pourahi / Chief Executive at Te Ptahitanga o Te Waipounamu - the Whanau Ora Commissioning Agency for the South Island.  Helen was a Specialist Advisor, Strategy and Influence at Te Rnanga o Ngi Tahu.   She has held several senior roles in Parliament including Chief of Staff of the Mori Party and Senior Ministerial Adviser for the former Minister for Whnau Ora. 

Justine Gillard

 Justine has over fifteen years of experience working creatively with Christchurch youth on a range of projects, big and small.  Currently, she is very excited about her role at 298 Youth Health and work alongside an amazing group of young adults who inspire her to be more creative.
