  • Skills and traits needed to succeed in the food world
  • Understanding the competitive landscape

  • Regulatory requirements that you’ll face, whether you’re in Maryland, DC, Virginia, or all three
  • Traditional and alternative options for funding your business
  • Developing a plan to market your business
  • Resources available to train you, fund, and help accelerate your business

INSTRUCTOR:

Suzanne McGrath brings diverse experience to SCORE, having practiced as a lawyer, while also possessing extensive experience in the retail and hospitality industries.  Originally trained as a pastry chef, Suzanne obtained her law degree from William & Mary and practiced as a litigator before returning to the hospitality sphere.  After developing expertise in wine, she created and managed an innovative wine retail business in Arlington for ten years, and eventually expanded the business to add a restaurant and private event facility.  A Certified Wine Educator, she has focused on private events and education over the last several years.  Suzanne has a deep enthusiasm for SCORE’s mission, and looks forward to assisting entrepreneurs, especially those interested in developing food-based businesses in the DC area.
