Getting Comfortable with Touch  on the Dance Floor

Physical contact with other human beings is crucial for social bonding and individual development.  Contact is a basic human need and touch is a language all its own.  What are some of the elements needed to enjoy touching and being touched?  What are the ways we can use touch and contact to enhance the dimensions of our dance? How can we engage in physical contact with more awareness of our intentions and impacts?   And what do we really mean when we talk about consent?  In this workshop, we will explore these questions and more.

While every part of our selves is welcome on the dance floor, this workshop is not about sexual touch.  This is not a typical "dance" workshop.  The format will include facilitated discussion and guided exercises for the first part of the workshop.  We will end with a dance, where we can practice and explore what we've learned.

The workshop will begin at 5:00.  Please come a few minutes early to settle in.   Dress comfortably in layers since we will be sitting for awhile.  Feel free to bring a notebook if you'd like to take notes.

Trudes is a dancer, potter, and teacher.  She has been dancing for over 15 years and graduated as an Open Floor movement teacher in 2016.  In addition to teaching dance, she facilitates workshops on intimacy and consent.
