Studio I:

Bones of Storytelling Series

You have always wanted to write a book, but where to start?

Or, you've started only to discover it was very difficult to stay organized.

Or, you've finished the first, even second draft, but what now?

This is the class for you and your entry point to all the other Studio programs.

The Bones of Storytelling, ten weeks long, meets on Tuesdays (or Thursday evenings online), and is two hours per week.

You'll learn everything you need to know about plot, antagonistic forces, inner and outer arc, structure, and character development.  We'll study from the following:

The Seven Basic Plots by Christopher Booker

Story Engineering by Larry Brooks

Story by Robert McKee

From Where We Dream by Robert Olen Butler

13 Ways of Looking at the Novel by Jane Smiley

New York Times bestselling author, Jennifer Lauck, who has taught this program a hundred times over the last seven years, will guide you carefully and thoughtfully through each lesson, offering examples, recommending homework (about an hour to two hours per week), and facilitating lively group discussions. She'll also provide an audio program, so you can listen to the teachings again and again.

Writers who have taken this class say it is invaluable and changed the way they thought about story. You will leave inspired and motivated.

Limited to 18.

*If you'd like us to compile the recommended reading and handouts in a portfolio, there is an additional cost of $250.00
