Speaker: Sally Miracle

Target Audience: Any school staff

High Leverage Practices:

7. Establish a consistent, organized, and respectful learning environment.
13. Adapt curriculum tasks and materials for specific goals
14. Teach cognitive and metacognitive strategies to support learning and independence.
15. Provide scaffolded supports.
21. Teach students to maintain and generalize new learning across time and settings.

We all use Visual Supports through our day.  No one could go a day without the use of Visual Supports.  Visual supports are any tool presented visually that supports an individual as he or she moves through the day. Visual Supports are an Evidenced Based Practice for teaching students with disabilities of all ages.  They are proven to support success.  Participants will learn strategies for using visual supports with students with disabilities across general education and special education settings.  Some examples that will be covered include; directions, pictures, written words, objects within the environment, arrangement of the environment or visual boundaries, schedules, maps, labels, organization systems, timelines, and scripts.  EILA and CEU’s will be applied for.
