Description: Student engagement is a predictor of successful academic outcomes. Students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities are at a significant risk to not being successful in school due to lack of engagement. Teachers often struggle with getting their students with the most severe disabilities into flexible grouping and engaged at all times. This session will explore strategies for increasing engagement of students with a variety of moderate to severe disabilities in small group lessons and whole class activities in both the general education and special education classrooms. This session will explore strategies that teachers are currently using and support planning for participants to use in their classrooms. EILA and CEU’s will be applied for.
