Wisconsin Standards for Social Studies
At-a-Glance Workshop
Audience: Administrators, Content Coordinators, and Classroom Teachers who did not attend the 2018-19 CESA #1 Social Studies workshops.
Attendees will:
- Review implementation support and appendices that will be available from DPI over the next two-three years
- Take a deep dive into reading through the revised standards document
- Understand the instructional shifts required with the revised standards
- Differentiate between the types of student inquiry (as identified by Trevor Mackenzie, Dive Into Inquiry, 2016) and understand the instructional and outcome expectations of the Inquiry Practices and Processes Strand
- Explore civic engagement, both in general and with a social studies focus
to encourage civic engagement in the classroom, school, and district K-12
- Review state requirements for American Indian Standards, InformationTechnology and Literacy Standards, and Environmental Literacy Standards in order to embed them into the social studies framework
