Introduction to School-Based OT, PT and ST

Are you a new therapist in the public schools or looking to start providing school-based therapy services?  If so, then this is the training you need to get started.  School-based services are very different than clinical services including many different team members, laws, and other factors involved with providing services. This course will equip related service providers with information about the law, roles, and the evidence-based practice for providing services in the public schools

Participants:  This course is for occupational therapist/assistants, physical therapist/assistants, speech therapists/assistants with less than five years of experience in the public schools.

Objectives:

1. Participants will identify three resources for finding evidence-based strategies in the public schools.

2. Participants will define the role of their specific discipline in the schools according to IDEA.

3. Participants will describe the difference between clinical and educational services specific to their discipline.
