The one-hour guided tour/lecture of this unique Philadelphia institute will include as much social and historical commentary as scientific content. Both its magnificent lecture hall and the cherry wood encased specimens will be part of the program in this Victorian gem.
Although there is a $10.00 fee for the tour, the Wagner Institute continues to offer free courses to the community at a variety of places in the City. It has been written about recently by Ken Finkel in the PhillyHistory Blog. These and other lectures are consistent with the Wagner Institute’s original philosophy of providing free education in the sciences to the Philadelphia community.
Event Cost: $11 (includes tour fee of $10) Refunds available until June 19th, less $1.50 service charge. FitC members only.
Following the tour, those who wish will walk a short distance (about nine minutes) to nearby Draft House Pub and Grill for lunch and conversation:
Draft House Pub and Grill
1431 Cecil B. Moore Avenue
Public Transportation: BSL and #4, 16 and 33 buses are good for travel from Center City to locations near both the Wagner Institute and Draft House (5 - 10 min walk). The #2 bus has a stop 1 block from Wagner at 16th and Montgomery Ave.
Accessibility: Although the lecture hall is on the first floor, the exhibits are up one flight of steps. The building is not air conditioned, consistent with its Victorian character!
