Hydronic Systems: Basics and What's New

Hydronics, in its simplest form, uses fluid rather than air to transfer heat and cold. This seminar will present the three basic types of hydronic systems: Hot water, chilled water, and condensers. You will be introduced to various piping methods such as direct return, reverse return, and primary/secondary pumping used to achieve proper flow distribution in a system. Equipment such as pumps, expansion tanks, boilers, and heat exchangers will be discussed, along with the latest improvements in equipment efficiency such as ECM motors.

PEU-Eligibility:

STL County 4.0 Trade for HVAC, Pipefitter, Sheet Metal. 4.0 Core for Sprinklerfitter

JEFF County 3.5 Elective for Mechanical, Plumbing, Sprinklerfitter

Instructor: Kent Mowe has been employed with Blackmore & Glunt for over fifty years in both St. Louis and Kansas City. Throughout his career he has worked with mechanical contractors and consulting engineers in the design and application of boilers, pumps, heat exchangers and ancillary equipment in hydronic systems.
