Phowa is the swift and authentic way of transferring the consciousness at the time of death. 

Daily Schedule

Friday, August 16th: Please arrive early and check in at the Ewam Gift Store to get your room assignment.  You should come to the Gonpa/Shrine room by 6:30pm to get settled.  Khen Rinpoche will begin promptly at 7pm in Shrine room.

Saturday, August 17th: teachings 9am - noon, lunch break, teachings 2pm - 5pm, evening practice 7pm - 9pm

Sunday, August 18th:  teachings 9am - noon, lunch break, final session 2pm - 5pm. 

 


Retreat Fee

Residential - $150 for the weekend 

Commuters - Sliding scale $60 - $100.  Please make a payment in accord with your means.

Additionally, there will be texts for purchase.  If you already have the Cascade of Blessings and Namchak Ngondro, please bring them with you. 

Accommodations 

The retreat will be held in the Shrine room at the Garden of One Thousand Buddhas.  Residential rooms are shared. Please let us know if there is a particular person that you would like to share your room.  Camping is also available for those who wish to stay outdoors.  Please register early to help us with planning.

Camping 

Bring your own tent and gear to sleep outside under the stars. Temperatures may drastically vary this time of year.  Keep an eye on the forecast and be prepared for all types of weather.

Food 

A cook will prepare vegetarian meals for lunch and dinner.  Breakfast is self serve.  We will provide foods such as nut butters, jelly, cereal, muesli, milk, yogurt (fat-free, regular), fruit, bread, oatmeal, and eggs.

Karma Yoga 

Karma Yoga (work service) is time offered to support the needs of the retreat and is an intrinsic part of spiritual practice. All retreatants are expected to participate in approximately one hour of karma yoga daily. We greatly appreciate your willingness to help in this way.  You will have the same job every day and it is up to you to trade jobs with people if you prefer. 

What to Bring

  • Layered clothing for hot days and cold nights.

  • Bath towels
  • Insect Repellent
  • Headlamp or flashlight and batteries
  • Sturdy shoes or hiking boots
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses
  • Refillable water bottle or thermos
  • Personal items, alarm clock, bath towel, washcloth, toiletries
  • Earplugs

All participants must register online in advance.  Please make your payment in advance to help with planning and accommodations.  To pay for the retreat, you may either click on the Paypal link on the registration form or mail a check to Ewam.
