Let's Talk About Risk!
[Identifying, Managing and Mitigating Risk]
December 4 to 6, 2019
Roosevelt Hotel
New Orleans, LA

The U.S. Department of Education and all other Federal agencies talk about identifying, managing and mitigating risk, so we are too! But we are not just going to talk about it, we are going to review how to identify and reduce risks at your agency, institution or organization. We will walk through how to prepare for an audit and hear from auditors regarding what they like to see from the agencies they audit. You will hear from auditees on their experiences and our own attorneys will arm you with the information you need so that you never just accept findings but know how to defend them.  This is why you can’t miss our Fall Forum – Let’s Talk About Risk!

Managing risk also entails understanding compliance with EDGAR and the Uniform Grants Guidance (UGG), as well as the significant programmatic changes under ESSA, Perkins V, WIOA, AEFLA, IDEA and the Higher Education Act.

We will conduct two EDGAR pre-sessions on the morning of December 4. One session will be designed for staff of State Education Agencies, State Eligible Agencies and Pass-Through Entities. The targeted audience for the second EDGAR pre-session are subrecipients, including LEAs, institutions of higher education, charter schools, and community-based organizations.

We also will be conducting numerous programmatic sessions on Perkins V implementation, recent audit and monitoring findings in AEFLA and WIOA, recent ESSA guidance, including supplement not supplant and schoolwide consolidation, emerging IDEA issues, as well as updates on the HEA reauthorization. Inasmuch as the U.S. Department of Education and U.S. Department of Labor having effectively ceased to provide guidance on program implementation, you do not want to miss this opportunity to learn about the federal grants programs.

Please click here to view the Draft Agenda. As always, please remember that the forum agenda and speakers are subject to change. We urge you to register as soon as possible and reserve your room at the hotel.
