Non-Violent Crisis Prevention & Intervention
(CPI) Training

Legislation was passed regarding Seclusion and Restraint, which took effect on September 1, 2012. This legislation requires all schools to have at least one staff member trained in appropriate seclusion and restraint techniques.

This training will provide participants with violence prevention and crisis intervention techniques developed by the Crisis Prevention Institute.

These include:

  -Identifying escalating behavior
  -Responding to escalating behavior
-Diffusing hostile behavior and preventing violence
  -Dealing with your anxiety
-Dealing with the aftermath of a crisis
  -Proper documentation

Each participant will receive a manual and a certificate upon passing a written exam and successful completion of all phases of instruction.

Due to the ongoing public health pandemic, this training will be held virtually. The virtual training will cover all the same information as the regular CPI course, with the exception of the physical skills (disengagementand holding skills). Participants will have the option to learn the physical skills at a later date, once in-person trainings resume.

Registration for this training closes July 30th to allow time for course booklets to be mailed to participants.
