2nd Year Confirmation Registration for TRANSFER and CATHOLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS 2019-2020

This registration is ONLY for teens that are transfering to the program at Corpus Christi from another parish (speak with Jeny before registering) or teens (grades 10-12 ONLY*) who attend a Catholic High School and are opting to do the 2nd year of Confirmation only.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

Please read the following two-step registration process carefully. Also, below you will find general information about the program--if you haven't already read it, please be sure to do so before registering.

Step 1: Complete the online registration by clicking the "Register Now!" button below. **You will need readily available the following information: Parish family registration number (must be a registered Parishioner at Corpus Christi--if you need to register please call the main office at 619-482-3954 and ask about the process of registering for the parish), child's Baptism date and the name and address of the baptismal church, child's First Communion date and church name and city. If your child has not yet received First Holy Communion you will indicate this on the form and your child will be enrolled for First Communion and Reconciliation prep congruent with Confirmation prep (see FAQs below for more info).

IMPORTANT: If your family is registered at a different parish, please do not register at Corpus Christi as well but instead speak with Jeny BEFORE REGISTERING.

Step 2: Attend Mandatory Confirmation Orientation Meeting to hand in paperwork, payment and receive more detailed information about program requirements.

When you register online you will be able to choose a mandatory Confirmation 2 orientation meeting from two options. The meeting options are:

Please bring payment ($130), signed general medical release form:

If you would like to pay the $225 fee for the Confirmation retreat (Jan 10-12th) you may do so at the orientation meeting, otherwise payment will be due in November.
You may opt to pay online--you will be asked your method of payment within the registration page. If you pay online, simply bring the above mentioned paperwork to the orientation meeting, and a printed copy of the receipt from your online payment in lieu of a check.

If I attend a Catholic School do I have to complete the full two year program?

Catholic school students may opt to attend the second year of Confirmation preparation only—you will be asked to indicate this on the online registration form.
Must be able to validate current enrollment at local Catholic school.
Students must meet above requirement of being 15 years old/at least a sophomore in high school upon reception of the Sacrament.
Student must bring copy of Baptismal and Communion Certificate to the orientation meeting
Catholic school students, opting to do second year Confirmation only, should NOT use THIS page to register, but should find the page for "Catholic School and Transfer students" and register there.

If I am in Catholic School and would like to attend the full 2 year program am I able to do so?

Yes, you are welcome to attend the full program. However, once you have chosen to start with first year, you must complete both years in order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. If you choose this option, then please register on the Confirmation 1 Registration page (you are currently on the 2nd year page).

***NOTE: If you are registering more than one child for CONFIRMATION CLASSES (not religious ed in general--for religious ed kinder through 8th grade see Mike Wickham), then you must complete this online registration for EACH child. If both children are Confirmation 2, you will need to use a different email address to sign in for the second child. Once you register one child, simply return to this site and begin the process again, starting with a different email address to sign in. If your second child is in Confirmation 1 or a returning student, be sure to go back to the homepage and register in the Confirmation 1 or Returning Conf 2 Student Registration Page (Conf 1, Conf 2 Returners, and Conf 2 transfers each have separate registration pages).

General Information about the Program:

Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation is two years. Students will receive this final Sacrament of Initiation upon successful completion of the two year program and the student’s personal request to be Confirmed in the Catholic Church.

Program Requirements

Confirmation Classes take place from end of August/Sept – May on Sunday nights from 6PM-8PM. Class is approximately twice a month (you will receive a calendar at the orientation meeting with all class dates--typically class is every other Sunday, but some months are atypical. Please note: this calendar is subject to change). In addition to class attendance, students must also attend an additional 5 Corpus Christi youth ministry events per Confirmation year (A list will be available at the parent orientation meeting - This includes, but is not limited, to youth nights, youth rallies, youth conferences, Stations of the Cross, and other youth events held at and outside of church WITH Corpus Christi) These can be completed at any time, but it is recommended to do 2 youth events per semester and to NOT wait until the last minute. Additional Confirmation requirements: A day-long retreat for Confirmation 1 and weekend retreat for Confirmation 2, 20 service hours PER YEAR, other writtenassignments distributed at Confirmation classes and final exit interview and petition letter (Exit interviews will occur between March-April).

PLEASE NOTE: The Confirmation 2 Retreat is Jan. 10-12th, 2020. Students who are not in the Sweetwater District schedule must request for early dismissal on Friday, Jan. 4th and/or request an early dismissal letter from my AT LEAST 4 weeks before our departure for retreat. Request these early! Don't wait till the last minute. Also, please plan all trips ahead! Absence from Corpus Christi's Confirmation retreat will result in your child needing to complete a makeup retreat at a different parish.

Frequently Asked Questions about Confirmation

Who is eligible to enter the Confirmation Program?

Student must be in 9^th, 10^th or 11^th grade at the start of their two year program. If your child is starting the program in 12th grade, they are required to attend both Confirmation 1 AND Confirmation 2 classes simultaneously to complete the program.
Student must be at least 15 years of age upon completion of the two year program and reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

How much does it cost?

$130 for the first child
$90 for additional children

Additional $225 for mandatory weekend retreat for 2^nd year students(includes weekend retreat accommodations, a retreat t-shirt, all meals, transportation to and from Whispering Winds Jan. 10-12th, 2020). **You may pay for the Confirmation retreat in August if you like, otherwise payment will be due on November 15.

*Please make checks payable to “Corpus Christi Church” and bring with you to the orientation meeting along with all paperwork or pay online through the Corpus Christi Online Giving website: https://www.myowngiving.com/Default.aspx?cid=500 (please copy and paste website into your browser) If you pay online please print a copy of the receipt and bring with you to the orientation meeting in lieu of a check.

Do I have to re-register for 2^nd year if I just completed 1^st year?

YES, 2^nd year students must register online AND parents only must attend a mandatory orientation meeting. Parents do not need to bring copies of their Baptismal and Communion Certificates as long as these were handed in last year. You will bring the Conf 2 Retreat Permission Slip to the meeting, as well as payment.

What is the date of the MANDATORY 2^nd Year Confirmation Retreat?

This year it is January 10th-12th, 2020

Please note: Students who are not in the Sweetwater District schedule must request for early dismissal on Friday, Jan. 10th and/or request an early dismissal letter from my AT LEAST 4 weeks before our departure for retreat. Request these early! Don't wait till the last minute. Also, please plan all trips ahead! Absence from Corpus Christi's Confirmation retreat will result in your child needing to complete a makeup retreat at a different parish.

What if my child has not yet received Baptism and/or First Holy Communion but is in high school and would like to be Confirmed?

Please indicate this on the online registration form and your child will be placed in a program to receive additional instruction and preparation for First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation (Confession). For unbaptized teens, your child will receive all Sacraments together at Easter Vigil Mass: Saturday, April 11th, 2020- time TBA. If your child is already baptized then they will receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in April or May of 2020(Date tba), after completion of 5 additional 1.5 hour long sacramental preparation sessions. It will also be necessary that teens are mentally and spiritually prepared/willing to receive their Sacraments. (A schedule for these will be sent out at the beginning of October and may include certain Youth Nights.)
