SMRO - DDA Nurses Meeting- June 25, 2019

There will be a DDA Nurses Meeting on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 10A -1P. Participation may be onsite at the SMRO at 312 Marshall Ave., Laurel, MD 20707 or via webinar.

In addition to general updates, there will be a presentation on Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act regulations (EMTALA) which is a federal law that requires hospital emergency departments to medically screen every patient who seeks emergency care and to stabilize or transfer those with medical emergencies. The participants will learn about these Federal regulations and how it impacts developmentally disabled individuals receiving services in Maryland hospitals. This presentation will be done by Renee Webster, the Assistant Deputy Director for Non Long Term Care Federal Programs at the OHCQ. She oversees the Hospital and HMO Quality Assurance Unit, the Laboratory Licensing and Certification Programs, and the Ambulatory Care Programs.

Reminder: To stay active on the DDA Registry of RN CM/DNs, you must attend minimally 2 DDA Nurses Meetings and all mandatory trainings within the fiscal year (July - June).

Attendance at this meeting meets the obligation of attending one of two DDA Nurse Meetings as required for continuance as a current and active Maryland DDA RN CM/DN for Fiscal year 2019 (July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019).

To obtain credit if participating by webinar, you must sign into the webinar using the email address with which you registered and attend for minimally 1 hour. If attending via phone or in a group (i.e., not signing into the webinar via computer), the RN must email Mardi Adams at mardi.adams@maryland.gov within 1 week stating that s/he attended and what was learned.
