Testimonials

" I have realized I need to pay more attention to myself, to enjoy the simple and wonderful things that make me happy, instead of rushing and trying to do everything at one time. This class made me be aware of my needs...(and) aware of the people who are around me. Being aware of my students and how my behavior affects them. "

Janine Castro, SPED Homestead Senior High School

You are the world expert on your life, your body, and your mind, or at least you are in the best position to become that expert if you observe carefully. Part of the adventure of meditation is to use yourself as a laboratory to find out who you are and what you are capable of doing.”

Jon Kabat-Zinn - Full Catastrophe Living.

Mindfulness is a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is unfolding in your life, moment-to-moment, with awareness, compassion, acceptance, and curiosity. This course is a secular, scientifically informed approach that operates in harmony with any belief system or spiritual background and can be practiced by people of all backgrounds. No prior experience is necessary.

Over three decades of scientific research at medical centers all over the world demonstrate that training in mindfulness can positively and profoundly affect participants’ ability to reduce medical symptoms and psychological distress while learning to live life with more enjoyment and balance.

This course teaches practical ways to integrate mindfulness into your daily life and build and sustain a personal mindfulness practice, which is the foundation of sharing mindfulness with others.  Starting with exploring the themes and elements of the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction that support that foundation. Then continuing to support the participants personal practice while incorporating the full 8-week Mindfulness Teacher Training Program (MTTP). The MTTP is an 8-week experiential training for educators preparing them to teach age-appropriate mindfulness practices, games, activities, and skills based on social-emotional learning. These methods train children and youth to pay attention, strengthen focus, increase impulse control, regulate behavior, and cultivate tolerance, compassion and empathy for themselves and others. Encompassing 4 Basic Modules: Mindful Movement; Mindful Games & Exercises; Mindful Relaxation; Kindness Practice. The 4 modules are meant to provide a set of tools to be woven skillfully by the Teacher at appropriate times to support themselves and their students.
