Pine-Planting Workday in Flagstaff

New by popular demand: Audubon AZ's first summer Conservation Workday!

Audubon Arizona is joining forces with Northern Arizona University, National Forest Foundation and Northern Arizona Audubon Society to offer volunteers a unique conservation opportunity: a chance to give back to a beloved summer retreat, the Coconino National Forest. Enjoy clean air and beautiful views while helping restore prime habitat!

Work will focus on a previously burned area and will include both tree-planting and installing plastic cones around the baby trees for protection from hungry animals. Volunteers will meet at the Flagstaff Nordic Center and then caravan to the work site on the Coconino National Forest. Note: Although the forest road we will use to access the work site is navigable by passenger vehicle, there is limited parking available so carpooling is recommended.

  • all ages (w/adult supervision) are welcome!
  • tools, gloves, instruction provided
  • come ready to work outdoors (closed-toed shoes, sturdy clothes, sunscreen)
  • water & light snacks provided (bring re-fillable water bottle)

If the event reaches capacity, the birds still need your help!              Join Audubon for a River Clean-up at Rio Salado on Sept. 21               Click Here for more info or to sign up.
