Hurricane Mountain Fire Tower Centennial Celebrations

Join Friends of Hurricane Mountain, the Adirondack History Center and New York Archives Magazine for two special centennial celebrations recognizing the important role Hurricane Mountain Fire Tower has played in protecting the Adirondack wilderness from devastation for a century.

Have you read Peter Slocum's feature article, "View from Hurricane Mountain," in the latest issue of New York Archives magazine yet?

On August 8th, Adirondack History Center in Elizabethtown will host a special exhibit on the Hurricane Fire Tower's 100th anniversary with photographs, historic documents, log books and oral histories. The celebration honors the history and changing role of the fire tower of its years standing in the Adirondack Park. A commemorative hike is planned for August 10th.

New York Archives readers and supporters of the Archives Partnership Trust are invited to join in these special events.
