Parkview Holistic Nursing
Certification Prep Course

 Join Parkview Health's Holistic Nursing Team

This three-day intensive course, offered one day a month for three months on Sept. 14, Oct. 5 and Nov. 2, 2019, provides participants a great foundation in the essentials of holistic practice and explores many integrative therapies. All classes are taught by certified holistic nurses.

Who can attend: Anyone providing patient care can attend including medical assistants, LPNs, RNs, physical therapy, case managers, social workers, APPs and MDs. Only RNs are able to become certified. 

Agenda: 24 contact hours are available upon completion of this three-day course, which incudes hands-on activities, thoughtful discussion, practice of various skills, lecture and return demo.

Objectives:

  • Discuss the Parkview Holistic Nursing program, certification requirements and voucher program that will pay for first time applicants to take their certification test
  • Discuss the five core values of holistic nursing, holistic philosophy, holistic foundation and holistic nursing standards
  • Learn holistic nurse theory and ethics, including how to apply it to your own practice settings
  • Discuss why it is important to focus on presence as a foundation of care
  • Discuss examples of the relationship of health to the natural world and the environment
  • Explore the concepts of color therapy and its impact on creating a healing environment
  • Discuss qualitative versus quantitative holistic research methods, therapeutic communication and health disparities with diverse ethnic groups
  • Discuss how aromatherapy and holistic modalities such as music, humor and art promote healing with patients using evidence based research
  • Prepare students in the areas of whole foods nutrition, stress reduction, addiction and recovery, spirituality and healing, energy and manual bodywork

FAQ:

How much does this cost? This course is $150 for Parkview employees and $450 for non-Parkview employees. 

Is this refundable? Once the purchase is made, it is not refundable but can be applied to a future class if you are unable to attend.

I am not a nurse, can I attend? Yes, but only RNs can seek certification.

Will Parkview pay for this class for me? Some managers have funds to send employees to continuing education courses. Contact your manager if you are interested. We currently do not have the ability to transfer funds at this time.

Can I get a discount for the class if I am a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) or a student? No discounts are given for the class at this time. First time applicants who are employed with Parkview can take the holistic nursing certification test at no cost through our voucher system.
