The Fall Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice Symposium provides a venue for nurses interested in quality improvement, evidence based practice and research, regardless of how well he or she understands the processes of systematic inquiry.  The key note speaker, Nancy Alberts' presentation; The Value of Nursing Research, will discuss how evidence based projects can help guide practice and provide cost reductions  A variety of podium and poster presenters will offer an overview of their projects.  Additionally, a workshop will help provide participants with a clear vision of what their next steps will be on their individual journey into practice improvement projects. 

Learner Outcomes:

  • Explain the differences in nursing research, evidence-based practice (EBP) and quality improvement (QI) projects
  • Identify practice issues that can be solved through QI, EBP or research projects
  • Describe how QI, EBP and research projects impact fiscal outcomes and provide return on investment (ROI)
  • Recognize participants' current level on the novice to expert scale for completing QI, EBP and research projects and how to advance to higher stages
  • Plan initial steps to address practice concerns where the participant practices nursing

*In order to receive Continuing Education hours, participants must attend 80% (5 hours of presentations) of the conference and complete an evaluation form.
