James M. Golembeski | Executive Director
Bay Area Workforce Development Board

Workforce Development

With the Baby Boomer generation now in their late 50s and 60s, the American workforce is dominated by Gen Xers and Millennials, but a new generation, “The Cloud” for want of a better moniker, is now entering the workforce. Mr. Golembeski will provide insights on each of these generations and how they approach workforce participation.

He will include a review of changing workforce demographics and best practices in this new environment, particularly the effectiveness of industry sector partnerships such as the NEW Construction Alliance.

Jim Golembeski is responsible for the administration of federal job training grants in an 11-county area of northeastern Wisconsin through six regional job centers. He has beenworking in the employment and training field since 1990, before which he worked as a Catholic priest.

Jim holds Masters Degrees in Theology (St. Paul Seminary 1981) and Public Administration (UW-Oshkosh 1997). He is most proud of the “Governor’s Cares About Kids Award” he received in 1998 from the Wisconsin Public Defenders Association and the “Community Quarterback Award” from the Green Bay Packers in 2004 for his work with victims of domestic violence. In 2013, he received the Community Partnership Award from the NEW Manufacturing Alliance.

Bay Area Workforce Development Board has been instrumental in the creation of The NEW North regional economic development organization, the North Coast Marine Manufacturing Alliance, the Greater Green Bay Healthcare Alliance, and the NEW Manufacturing Alliance which has been recognized nationally and internationally as a premiere industry sector partnership effort. Bay Area WDB has also been recognized as a state leader in offender reentry initiatives.

Bay Area Workforce Development Board continues to be a leader in the effort to sustain a strong economy in NE Wisconsin through the alignment of worker skills and employer needs. Current efforts focus on youth aging out of foster care, aligning K-12 education with the regional economy, and opening up successful career opportunities to all workers through training opportunities.
