Participants will have an opportunity to learn about California's Environmental Principles and Concepts (EP&Cs) and consider ways to integrate them into traditional course disciplines. NATURE JOURNALING - Nature Stewardship Through Science, Education and Art

October 26, 2019  8:30 am - 3:30 pm

Durham Ferry Outdoor Education Center, 29442 Airport Way, Manteca, CA 95337

John Muir Laws will help educators develop tools to wonder, reflect and record nature observations scientifically. Teachers will participate in hands-on observations and be challenged  to find grade level appropriate phenomenon in the riparian habitat of Durham Ferry. Nature journaling is a useful tool for providing an outdoor outdoor learning experience for students that can occur on the school site with a minimum supplies.

"We live in a world of beauty and wonder. Train your mind to see deeply and with intentional curiosity, and the world will open before you. Keeping a journal of your observations, questions, and reflections will enrich your experiences and develop gratitude, reverence, and the skills of a naturalist. The goal of nature journaling is not to create a portfolio of pretty pictures but to develop a tool to help you see, wonder, and remember your experiences." - John Muir Laws
