VSP Mobile Eye Clinic 2019

In 2018, several GOA members volunteered their time to make a difference in the lives of children whose families may not have been able to afford an eye exam or a new pair of eyeglasses. Many of the students had never had an eye exam before. Thanks to VSP Global, those students who needed eyeglasses received them that very same day, usually within an hour.

It was such a rewarding experience that the GOA once again has coordinated with VSP to bring the Mobile Clinic back to Georgia this September.

The brand new Mobile Clinic “Odyssey” is outfitted with one complete exam lane, finishing lab and also carries an additional portable lane and testing equipment that will be set up inside the school.

This event would not happen without our Volunteers! We are looking for GOA members who are willing to volunteer their time in effort to serve even more children.  Volunteers will be needed for shifts on Monday, September 9; Tuesday, September 10; Wednesday, September 11; and, Thursday, September 12. This year’s schools serve Title I populations located in Cobb County near the intersection of I-75 and I-285. Spanish-speaking doctors are especially needed for the Fair Oaks visits on Wednesday and Thursday.

Vanessa Grosso of the GOA is coordinating this project with the assistance of Dan Curran of Curran PR, our public relations consultant. If you wish to express your interest in volunteering please select a date and time below.  As the event draws closer Vanessa will provide additional details. For questions you can send an email to Vanessa@goaeyes.com.

We are hoping to have all volunteers in place by August 27th.

A combined total of 130 students from the two schools have taken the initial step towards registering for the clinic visit. Last year, that number was in the 50-60 range.
