The Al Forthan Scholarship and Bridges to Change present Racism as an Ethical Issue with Nikki Johnson, MA, CADC III

Please join us for the upcoming training, Racism as an Ethical Issue with Nikki Johnson, MA, CADC III on Wednesday, February 12th from 8:30am-4:30pm (registration starts at 8:00). The training cost is $110 - Includes six CEUs from MHACBO. All proceeds go towards the VOA Al Forthan Scholarship to support students who come from families impacted by addiction.


Meets the 6 hour continuing education Ethics requirement. This workshop builds awareness of unintentional counselor bias. Explores cultural context, counselor defenses, micro aggressions, and strategies to enhance counselor competence and commitment to anti-racism. Uses video, small group discussion and individual exploration activities. 

Nikki Johnson, MA, CADC III

Nikki is the director of Daystar Education, Inc, which she founded in 1984.She has been an Adjunct Faculty member at PCC in the Alcohol and Drug Counselor program also since that time. 

Her work in Professional Ethics has included developing PCC’s Ethics course and Daystar’s equivalent. She has been on ACCBO’s Ethics Committee for more than twenty years and chaired the Committee for much of that time. She was recently Honored at the NWASI  for her service to ACCBO (now MHACBO.

Nikki’s concerns about racism are long standing and she developed "Racism as an Ethical Issue" in response to discussions in the Ethics classes. She pondered, How do you get white people to talk about Racism? You make it into a Daystar class that meets requirements for recertification! The participants acknowledge an awareness building and positive experience.
