19th Exmoor Archaeology Forum - 12th October 2019

The Bare Bones of Buildings - An exploration of Exmoor's Built Heritage.

The study of Exmoor’s buildings is the focus of our 19th Exmoor Archaeology Forum. We will hear of the detailed research in Dunster being undertaken as part of the Early Dunster Project as well as Time Team Digital’s latest understanding of the development of this medieval market town from the buildings and extensive test pitting research.

Dendrochronology can reveal the date and sequence of the development of our buildings but it can also tell us about trade, forestry and climate, as will be revealed by a specialist from Historic England.

Recent research and work at Nettlecombe, Barlynch Priory and White Rock Cottage in Simonsbath will also be explored. Speakers include Dr Stuart Blaylock, Mary Ewing, Dr Richard Parker, Isabel Richardson, Tim Taylor and Cathy Tyers, as well as members of staff from ENPA: Shirley Blaylock, Catherine Dove and Thomas Thurlow.

Price is £17 per person which includes lunch.
