This hands-on workshop will explore numerous ways in which play therapy strategies can be incorporated in the therapeutic process, providing children with the opportunity to present and resolve psychosocial difficulties. Play therapy techniques appropriate for the office and school settings will be provided as well as strategies to teach families to use play to improve family relationships.

At the conclusion of the program, participants should be able to:

  • Review the core principals of play therapy
  • Describe how play can help with assessment, therapeutic goal setting and treatment
  • Discuss four basic play therapy skills for working with children
  • Identify basic tools for the playroom
  • Use basic play therapy techniques to help children identify and process feelings
