The A&WMA Lake Michigan States Section and the Union League Club Environmental Committee are pleased to invite you to join us to hear Commissioner, Mariyana T. Spyropoulos speak about the current issues before the Metropolitan Water Reclamatio District Board at the September 17, 2019 Environmental Breakfast.  

Commissioner Mariyana Spyropoulos was elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2016. She was elected as Chairman of Finance in January 2013 and Board President in January 2015 and 2017.

Commissioner Spyropoulos serves as Chairman of three committees: Judiciary; Labor and Industrial Relations; and Pension, Human Re­sources and Civil Service. She is also Vice Chairman of the Federal Legislation and Finance Committees and serves as a Trustee of the Retirement Fund. In January 2011, the Board of Commissioners ap­pointed her to the Public Building Commission.

Commissioner Spyropoulos has championed transparency and fis­cal responsibility to the taxpayers of Cook County. She has been a strong supporter of labor and veteran initiatives at the District. She has prioritized community outreach and engagement by speak­ing to community groups throughout the County about water and environmental issues. In 2017, she received the Illinois Water Envi­ronment Association Public Official Award.

COST:  The cost to attend for non-Union League Club members is $40 per person which includes breakfast and any presentation handouts.  Students are invited to join us at a special price of $20 per person.

RSVP:  Due to limited seating and our arrangement with the Union League Club, advance registration is required to guarantee availability. Reservations and payment can be made by clicking the reservation button below.  Reservations may be cancelled for a full refund only if we are notified 48 hours in advance of the event. Union League Club members should contact ULC to make their reservations.

CREDIT:  Attendees are eligible to receive Continuing Legal Education (CLE) or Professional Development Hours (PDH) credit.

A limited number of scholarships are available for anyone who requires CLE credit to maintain professional registration such as attorneys, professional engineers and professional geologists and who could not otherwise afford to attend this conference.
