Course Description: 

Air polishing is a procedure which uses air and water pressure to deliver acontrolled stream of specially processed powders in a slurry through thehandpiece nozzle. This course is designed to review the process of fine particlesof powders propelled by compressed air in a warm spray and directed onto thesurfaces of the teeth. This pressurized jet of air, water and powder removessurface stains, plaque and other soft deposits such as food particles trapped inbetween the teeth.

• Differentiate erythritol from sodium bicarbonate
• Discuss/show how and when to use an air-flow polisher
• Discuss subgingival use of air-polishing
• DIscuss contraindications of air-polisher use
• Discuss how you can get air-flow in your office
