Speaker Bio:
Lori Serna-Pate is a graduate of Loma Linda University School of Dentistry.
She has been working in the dental setting for more than 25 years and has been a clinician for 20 of those years.
Since 2000, Lori has been an Infection Control Officer. She provides individual office evaluations and group training seminars. Her interactive courses employ a practical approach to enable health professions to survivie the changing array of communicable disease laws and work safely in today's dental offices.
She presents educational programs for local, state, and national dental societies as well as other professional organizations. Lori Serna-Pate, RDH, MEd is a member of ADHA, MDDHA, HCDHA, as well as OSAP. Her lecture are accredited through the Academy of General Dentistry.
She currently practices dental hygiene once a week in private practice in Ellicott City, Maryland.
Course Description:
Meeting the infection control needs of every dental practice should not be an overwhelming process. An understanding of the applicable laws prevention techniques and a common sense approach can produce a simple effective, ongoing program that protects patient and providers alike. A review of current research will provide a scientific basis for infection control policies. Understanding the required protocols and procedures that would be evaluated during a compliance inspection will be included. The course is designed to help satisfy the annual training requirement for MOSH compliance as well as provide infection control continuing education credits required for Maryland dental relicensure.
