Keynote Speaker:

John Norris, Oakworth Capital
Mr. Norris oversees the wealth management and investment services for Oakworth Capital Bank. Prior to helping to start Oakworth, Mr. Norris was chief economist, chairman of the investment strategy committee, and a senior fund manager for Regions Financial Corporation’s Morgan Asset Management (MAM) subsidiary. Before joining Regions he served as the chief investment officer for The Trust Company of Sterne, Agee & Leach, Inc. and started his professional career with Mercantile-Safe Deposit & Trust Company in Baltimore, Maryland, as an institutional fixed income portfolio manager. Mr. Norris has been a guest columnist to the Montgomery Advertiser’s business section for over a decade. Currently, he serves on the Board of Dir. for The Literacy Council of Central AL, and on the advisory board for the economics/finance department at Samford’s Brock School of Business.  Previously, he was chairman of the finance committee for the IPC Foundation and has served as both a deacon and elder at Independent Presbyterian Church. He received his Bachelor of Arts in 1990 from Wake Forest University and his Master of Business Administration in 1994 From the University of Baltimore.

Abba Harris, Construction Practice Litigator, Bradley Arant Boult
Cummings, LLP
Abba Harris is a litigator in the Construction Practice Group at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings, LLP. She represents EPC contractors, general contractors, and subcontractors on a variety of projects—from condominium towers and retail centers to water treatment plants and utility-scale solar farms—locally, nationally, and abroad. Whether advising clients on day-to-day contract administration issues or defending multimillion-dollar claims, she focuses on successfully navigating the considerable risks associated with each new construction project. Throughout her practice, she has assisted in claim preparation and defense of government contracts, tailored contracts to meet the needs of specialty contractors, and defended a wide range of matters, including breach of contract, breach of warranty, and complex fraud claims. Abba also has experience with general civil litigation, including high-value contract, commercial, insurance, products liability, class action toxic torts, tort, and personal injury matters.

Stephen Davis, Partner, Lakeview Risk Partners, LLC
Stephen is a Partner at Lakeview Risk Partners, LLC and specializes in working with owner-operated companies on their risk management and surety needs.  He spent most of his career as a Commercial Banker where he was part of forming ServisFirst Bank in 2005 and retired from that practice in 2018.  He currently has his Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist designation and is a licensed Property & Casualty Insurance broker.  Stephen earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Mississippi State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

 In his free time, Stephen enjoys golf, hunting, travel and spending time outdoors with his family.  He and his wife, Allison, have a daughter named Brooke Ann and two crazy dogs named Huckleberry and Fancy.

Anne McCarley, Contract Surety Underwriter, Hartford Bond
Anne McCarley is a Contract Surety Underwriter for Hartford Bond in Birmingham. In this role, Anne is responsible for profitably handling and expanding a multi-million portfolio of contract surety business in Alabama, Mississippi and the panhandle of Florida. Anne received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance from Auburn University in 2004.

Throughout her career, Anne has been involved in leadership roles with organizations including the Construction Financial Management Association, Alabama Surety Association, Surety and Fidelity Association of America and the Alabama Associated General Contractors.

Nic Balanis, Senior Vice President, ServisFirst Bank
Nic Balanis is the Senior Vice President and Team Leader of the Commercial Banking department of ServisFirst Bank Birmingham. With over a decade of experience, Nic has worked to become a role expert and top producer for the past six years at the premier Birmingham-based bank.

Specializing in the construction and trucking industries, Nic deepens his industry knowledge through active involvement in professional organizations within both industries. His involvement allows him to expand his knowledge to anticipate and exceed his clients' needs while forging new relationships.
