Make a difference in the world, support the Global Sustainable Development Goals and join Live Green and Three Tiers for Connecticut as we kick start a new initiative - Don’t Trash Connecticut: Nip It In the Bin! with a community litter cleanup at Norwalk's Veteran’s Memorial Park on Sunday, Oct 20th from 10am - noon.

The initiative“Don’t Trash Connecticut—Nip it in the Bin,” is part of a five-year, three-step partnership to help eradicate land-based litter—particularly wine and spirits containers, especially the 50 ml “nip” containers—through education and community cleanups to help make Connecticut’s roadsides, waterways and public spaces trash-free.

Our campaign features three main elements:

  • Community cleanups: We will conduct community-based litter cleanups, beginning with this one in Norwalk, and later expanding to other communities throughout the state.

  • Education: Because changing consumer behavior is an important part of keeping Connecticut green, we will launch a point-of-sale education campaign carried out in Connecticut package stores that focuses on litter eradication and responsible disposal—especially of wine and spirits containers.

  • Public space stewardship: For each of the five years of the program, Three Tiers will purchase and place numerous disposal bins in public locations, chosen in collaboration with the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), to help prevent litter of all types.

Please register so that we may reserve a "litter grabber" for your use at the clean - up!

A liter audit is conducted to help us with source reduction.

One grabber per registration.
