Learn to Sew: Simple Edged Scarf

Learn the basics of machine and hand sewing while making a beautiful lightweight scarf with elegant but simple details. This class is the perfect introduction for anyone with very little or no sewing experience, whether you have a machine or not. Students will learn how to iron fabric in preparation for sewing, thread a machine, wind a bobbin, and stitch straight seams with finished edges. After the machine part is complete, learn how to add a beautiful embroidery stitch to embellish the edges of your scarf.

Included supplies are 1/2 yard of your choice of Liberty cotton fabric, 1 skein of embroidery floss, 1 embroidery needle and 1 spool of thread. Students may either bring or purchase fabric scissors and pins.

*All students need to pre-wash their fabric at home before sewing, so plan to pick out your fabric at least one day in advance of the class.
