Data Security Mistakes You Can Avoid

Serious business disruptions become a growing threat as mistakes in storing important data and attacks on data, computers, programs, and networks become ever more common. Thomas Dillig, a computer scientist, and Aurelie Beaumel, a business IT expert, will explain how putting data on connected computers creates potential business risks and share the ways in which systems and data can be compromised. They will present the principles and concrete steps that every business can apply to mitigate different types of risks, as well as their relative effectiveness and costs. Using real-world examples, they will discuss both the seriousness of careless handling of data and cyber threats to businesses as well as examples of effective security methods. They plan to offer an exercise that will help you to understand the risks.
