In honor of Legal Professionalism Month, CDLA and CTLA are hosting a reception and special CLE ethics discussion. The associations will honor this year’s Professionalism Award recipients and speakers at this year’s event:

Mr. Nixon and Mr. Wahlberg will present “Concrete Actions for Putting Professionalism Into Practice, and the Impact of CBA Ethics Opinion 137

         Discussion of why professionalism matters and integrity is not an out of date concept;

         How powerful advocacy can be accomplished without compromising civility toward adversary or the bench;

         Examples of situations that got out of control, and how they could have been handled better;

         Practical and concrete advice on how to communicate in writing, in email, in phone and in person;

         The presenters will discuss Ethics Opinion 137 and their interpretation of how it impacts civil attorneys on both sides of the bar (Ethics Opinion 137 can be found here https://www.cobar.org/Portals/COBAR/Repository/committees/Ethics/137.pdf?ver=2019-06-10-131915-283 )

 This event will be moderated by Co-Chairs Heather Salg, Messner Reeves LLP & Nelson Boyle, Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, P.C.
