CLE: Advanced Issues in Representing Domestic Violence Survivors - Dayton 

Registration is now open for the CLE Advanced Issues in Representing Domestic Violence Survivors in Dayton.  (If you cannot make this event, it will be repeated November 15, 2019 in Findlay, Ohio).

Event Details:

Registration:  8:30 am - 9:00 am with light continental breakfast

CLE:  9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Lunch included in registration fee.

CLE credit pending for 5.75 total hours, including 2.5 Professional Conduct hours.

The CLE will include sessions on:

  • Understanding survivors of trauma as litigants;
  • Overview of trauma and emerging research on brain injury resulting from strangulation and head trauma;
  • Preparing clients for litigation, and selecting, preparing and using mental health experts for consultation or testimony and ethically adapting legal practices to account for trauma impacts;
  • Risk factors for homicide;
  • Abuser dynamics and tactics as litigants; and,
  • Ethically adapting traditional family law practice to effectively gather family violence history, distinguishing these cases from "high conflict" divorce, and diligent vetting and utilization of allied professionals to improve case outcomes.
