Hemlock Woolly Agelgid Field Tour 

REGISTRATION FOR THE FIELD TOUR IS FULL. 

In 2019, small populations of the invasive forest pest Hemlock Woolly Adelgid were confirmed in the Niagara Region, including a detection near Wainfleet, ON. The Invasive Species Centre, Silv-Econ Ltd. and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency are hosting a tour of this site on November 7th 2019. This tour will include training on identification, early detection and sampling methods, as well as the opportunity to connect with HWA experts. 

This event will also feature a pre-tour webinar hosted on November 5th from 1:00-2:30 PM, that all registrants are encouraged to attend.

Pre-Tour Webinar:

All registrants are encouraged to participate in a pre-tour webinar on November 5th, from 1:00-2:30 PM. Speakers from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, the Canadian Forest Service and the Invasive Species Centre will provide background information on HWA biology, and give an overview of what to look for in the field. By registering for a field tour, you will be sent the details of the webinar in your confirmation email. Details for webinar registration can be found here, and will also be sent in your confirmation email. 

 

Location and Parking:

This event will be hosted near Wainfleet, Ontario. Details on the specific meeting location, driving and parking instructions will be provided by email to all registrants closer to the tour date. 

Weather

This event will be held rain or shine - please dress accordingly. Waterproof shoes are encouraged. In the event of severe weather, registrants will be notified by email if the event is cancelled.
