Charleroi Lock & Dam Tour 

 Join WTS Pittsburgh and the Port of Pittsburgh for a tour of the Charleroi Lock and Dam construction project. 

The Charleroi Lock & Dam has been in operation since 1932 and is one of the oldest operating navigation facilities on the Monongahela River. The Lower Mon Project replace the nearly 100-year old fixed-crest dam at Braddock Locks with a gated dam, will remove Locks and Dam 3 in Elizabeth, and construct one larger lock and Locks and Dam 4 in Charleroi. 

Port of Pittsburgh is providing transportation and a boxed lunch, meeting at the Southpointe Park and Ride. The bus will leave promptly at 12pm and arrive at the Charleroi Lock and Dam at 1pm. The tour will last approximately one hour. 

Please plan to arrive no later than 11:50am at the Park and Ride. 

Background checks are required for all participants. Upon registration, you must provide a copy of your driver's license to the Port of Pittsburgh. Instructions are included on the registration page. All driver's license copies must be recieved by close of business October 16th, for processing. If you do not submit your driver's license, you will not be permitted on the tour.  

This is an active construction site, so please dress appropriately (i.e. pants, hard-soled shoes/boots). Bring your hard hat and life jacket if you have one. Otherwise, both will be provided on-site.
