Data Analytics and Machine Learning are promising tools to significantly improve reliability assurance and decision making. This talk will provide an overview of application opportunities throughout the product life cycle. Two application examples will be discussed, one each in manufacturing and in the field. Some key principles will be summarized.
About Bernhard Hiller
Bernhard Hiller leads the Advanced Reliability Engineering team at Western Digital Corporation. The team’s main objective is to continuously advance reliability assurance methods and models in an ever-changing usage environments for hard drives and flash products. Bernhard Hiller’s previous career stops were IBM, Siemens Medical, and Maxtor. He received a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford. He holds seventeen U.S. patents and published twenty journal papers. A Senior Member of IEEE, he currently chairs the local IEEE Reliability Chapter.
