Join Thomas MacLaren School and film critic Benjamin Burtzos as we slow down to enjoy the touching true story of Alvin Straight and his odyssey across the American heartland.

Benjamin Burtzos holds his B.A. in Political Science and English, Film Studies from Colorado College, and his M.A. in Political Science from the University of Toronto. Throughout his years of film study, Mr. Burtzos has written extensively on politics in film, including: masculinity and the fear of technology in Rebel Without A Cause; mob organization and labor unions in On The Waterfront; and recently, on political propaganda in Hollywood combat films such as Black Hawk Down. The Straight Story will be Mr. Burtzos’ fourth MacLaren Society film screening.
