Change The Story Women, Work, and Wages Report Launch

Co-hosted by: the Vermont Commission on Women, Vermont Works for Women, The Vermont Women’s Fund + Capstone Community Action

Please Join Us!

On the morning of Wednesday, December 18th, Change The Story VT (CTS), is releasing an update to their Women, Work, and Wages report on the economic status of women in Vermont at a special event held in Barre’s historic Old Labor Hall. This launch event will include a panel discussion with stories from Vermont Works for Women and Capstone participants, as well as a presentation of report highlights from Change The Story Director, Tiff Bluemle. There will be opportunities to ask questions about the data and findings, and have table discussions using CTS Let’s Talk Gender conversation cards. A light breakfast will be provided.

The Women, Work, and Wages report has been expanded to include data about women with disabilities, women of color, intimate partner violence, student loan debt, the pink tax, and more. Our network imagines a world with respect, opportunity, equity, and economic security for all, and this report will set the stage for 2020 – a year of big changes.

Our Goals

1) Make gendered data accessible to every Vermonter;

2) Make clear that a higher percentage of people living in poverty are women, primarily due to responsibility for children, occupational segregation, and the wage differential for women;

3) Elevate the issues that continue to drive gender inequity across the state; and

4) Highlight promising solutions, with special focus on stories from women who have participated in programs of Vermont Works for Women and Capstone, and on the economic empowerment programs of both organizations.

If you have questions or would like to see your organization involved, please contact Aly Johnson-Kurts: ajkurts@changethestoryvt.org

We hope to see you there!
