MTA/NJ Walt Johnson III Memorial Shoot Off

Marine Shoot OffTune up your marksmanship with a round of sporting clays at Red Wing Sporting Clays Facility in Port Republic, NJ at the MTA/NJ Walt Johnson III Memorial Shoot Off.  This annual event will be held on Tuesday, November 12th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Proceeds from the event will support the MTA/NJ PAC, which is a non-partisan, non-profit political action committee.  The PAC was formed to raise voluntary contributions to support candidates for state and local elective offices who share boating concerns, and are committed to supporting recreational boating businesses.  Thanks to the generosity of our members and successful fundraising efforts, the MTA/NJ has been able to stop, move and pass legislation; has significantly increased awareness of the importance of boating to the state and economy; and expanded our list of key contacts which have spawned positive results for the industry as a whole.

The event is open to novice and experienced shooters.  New shooters welcome! Teams of four will compete on a sporting clay course. The MTA/NJ will place anyone who does not have a team of four into a group the day of shooting. Once again, we will be shooting 100 targets straight-through on the course. Please plan your ammo accordingly.

Following the competition, a barbecue lunch will be served with burgers and pulled pork, along with awards for the best team and best shooter.

We will also be holding our Seventh Annual Chili Cook Off. The contest will be open to all event registrants, but space is limited. Email Allison at aboyle@mtanj.org if you would like to participate.

Guns, ear plugs, glasses are available for anyone that needs them. Shells will also be available for purchase or you can bring your own. The cost per person is $80.00, not including the cost for shells and safety glasses.

Anyone that is unable to attend the event can still make a contribution to the MTA/NJ PAC Fund by mailing a check payable to MTA/NJ PAC to 413 Euclid Ave. Brielle, NJ 08730.
