GAMES! GAMES! GAMES! “AT HOME/ZOOM EDITION!”

Play, learn, and lead games and theatre activities that create opportunities for young people to work together, develop responsiveness and confidence, explore creativity, build community with peers, and have fun remotely via ZOOM.

4-Hour Professional Development Session:
Earn a CUNY Certificate of Completion and CTLE Credit for Professional and Le
vel III Teaching Assistant certificate holders.

Theatre games can provide opportunities for participants to learn how to work together, develop responsiveness and confidence, explore creativity, build community with peers, and have fun! Facilitators can use them to energize and engage a group, increase commitment and focus, and explore collaboration and community building.

But how do we lead them in this new "stay-home" reality? A modified version of the original workshop will offer participants the opportunity to play theatre games remotely via ZOOM, as well as develop tools which will allow them to lead these activities within their programs in a digital way.

This practical workshop will provide participants with a hands-on experience on facilitating activities, with a particular focus on:
  • Step-by-step directions
  • Personal facilitation style
  • How a game might be adapted for different populations, environments, and educational goals

Who should attend?
Middle School and High School educators and afterschool facilitators seeking simple, affordable, and adaptable community-building activities for use with large and small groups of young people.

Led by Joey Schultz, Associate Program Director for the CAT Youth Theatre.

What our participants are saying about 2018 Professional Development sessions at CAT:

“One ‘ah-ha’ moment for me from this workshop is just the confidence to know I can do this. Having time to brainstorm and practice [during the PD] was priceless.” (2018 Participant)

“Aha!” Moment: “[Facilitator] is the penultimate model of creating an exclusive, engaged community of leaders.” (2nd-6th Grade Teacher)
