Lunch & Learn Workshop:
Business Legal Matters

Small business owners spend most of their time focusing on the nitty-gritty aspects of their business, like marketing, managing employees, and serving customers. Too often, legal matters tend to take the back burner.

Neglecting the proper steps to ensure legal protection can cause that back burner to ignite and send your entrepreneurial dreams up in smoke.

We'll cover:

  • Basics (the utility of legal advice)
  • Establishing the Identity of a New Endeavor
    • The importance of a (legal) identity
    • Discovering your (legal) identity
    • Business structure v. Tax structure
    • Registration and licensing
  • Relationships of a New Endeavor
    • Common relationships
    • Initial impacts of those relationships
  • Operational and ongoing concerns
    • Liability insurance
    • “Best” practices
    • Contracts
    • Intellectual property and other intangible property rights

Fee: $25

About our Instructor

Justin Berger
Founding Attorney, Berger Law, LLC

Justin Berger is licensed to practice law in the State of Georgia. Prior to gaining admission to the State Bar of Georgia, he gained experience counseling clients on a merger, as well as matters related to corporate governance during his time in the AUWCL Community Economic Development Law Clinic.

Upon admission to the Bar, Justin decided to establish his own practice. The result, Berger Law, LLC, is geared toward counseling small businesses, non-profits, and political campaigns, on start-up and ongoing compliance matters. These subject areas are the pillars of Berger Law for the same reason that voter protection initiatives are important to Justin — they serve as both a means for measuring and a mode for ensuring, that opportunity is available to all people.
